How It Works Under the Hood

When you hit Reindex, the Digital Brain scans five sources:

  • Meeting transcripts — every conversation you've recorded
  • Your notes — from Notion, Apple Notes, Obsidian, Evernote, OneNote, or your local Waterbook folder
  • Completed tasks — what you've actually done over the past two years
  • Imported documents — markdown and text files from your file system
  • User-created notes — anything you've written directly in Waterr AI

For each source, an AI extraction pipeline identifies entities and relationships. It doesn't just find names — it understands context. "Sarah presented the Q3 numbers at the board meeting" creates a person (Sarah), a project (Q3 numbers), an event (board meeting), and relationships between all three.

The extracted entities get deduplicated and merged — so "Sarah," "Sarah Chen," and "our CFO" all resolve to the same node. Relationships accumulate weight over time. The more two entities appear together, the stronger their connection.

Once an entity has enough evidence — five or more mentions across your data — the system synthesizes a compiled truth: a concise, AI-generated summary of everything it knows about that entity, grounded entirely in your own data.

Nine Types of Knowledge

The Digital Brain organizes your world into distinct entity types, each color-coded in the graph:

  • People — colleagues, clients, friends, mentors, anyone in your orbit
  • Projects — initiatives, campaigns, products, anything with a timeline and goal

  • Companies — organizations you work with, sell to, buy from, or compete against

  • Tasks — goals and action items tied to your world

The Digital Brain isn't just a database — it's visual. A force-directed graph renders your entire knowledge network as an interactive map. Nodes cluster naturally by proximity — people who work together drift closer, projects in the same domain group up, topics that overlap share edges.

You can zoom in to see detail, click any node to open its full profile — compiled truth, timeline of mentions, backlinks from related entities. You can switch between four visual themes: the clean Paper style for focused work, the dark Obsidian mode for late nights, the polished Apple aesthetic, or the Neural cyberpunk gradient if that's your thing.

There's also a table view for when you want to search, sort, and filter. Every entity is searchable. Every connection is traceable.
